How Coconut Oil Softened My Dry Skin

I’ve been plagued with dry skin for as long as I can remember. For some reason, my skin isn’t able to retain moisture. Especially in the Summer and Winter; two seasons I dread. During these two seasons living in New York City, I always have to adjust my skincare routine. My skin needs extra moisture in the colder months. I’ve tried everything from various moisturizing creams and lotion. None was able to reverse my dry skin. Suffering from an occasional eczema flare-up only made matters worse. Until I discovered the holy grail of coconut oil.

What I used specifically was Shea Moisture Head-to-Toe Nourishing Hydration 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I only used this because I was out of lotion, it was my last option. I had to ask myself, “Why wasn’t I using this a long time ago?!”

The key is to use the oil as soon as you get out of the shower, on damp skin. The oil will spread more evenly and smoothly. Rubbing oil on dry skin isn’t ideal. It will just sit on the surface of your skin. When I did this, my skin felt unbelievably soft to the touch. Along with using Shea Moisture’s Coconut Oil, I drank a lot of water to lock in hydration. I’ve noticed a dramatic change in the appearance and texture of my skin.

Shea Moisture’s Coconut oil only has one ingredient; coconut oil. It’s all-natural, with no added fragrance. It’s available for purchase at Target just for $17.69. Ever since I’ve run out of lotion, I’ve been using this oil every single day.

Using the oil every day has also become a staple in my self-care routine. Moisturizing your body is taking care of it. The coconut oil has saved my skin from dryness during the winter so far. If you’re a skincare aficionado, you’ll love the Shea Moisture Head-to-Toe Nourishing Hydration 100% Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. Your skin will thank you later for it.
